In I Corinthians 14 Paul tells us to put off our childish ways and thoughts. When we are older we are to think and act in maturity, this is spiritual maturity. We have graduated from milk or bible basics, we are eating meat, the bread of life, studying, fasting, and meditating of the Word, God's mind in writing.
In I Corinthians 13 "the chapter of love" that immature ideas and attitutes are the hidden enemy of love. The love that the Lord Jesus Christ shows us is to fill us and permeate every part of our being so that love spills over, throughout and onto all of those around us that we come in contact with. Mr. Parks a resident that we came to know in an assisted living told me, "If folks can't see Jesus when they look at us, he ain't there." He is deceased now but I will never forget these wise words.
Replace wrong attitudes with biblical truths. Don't just sit in pew and hear the Pastor or Sunday School teacher, listen take notes and review in your quiet time with the Lord. He has something to say to you, listen. Read the Bible daily? Great, don't just read the words on the pages of your bible study them, read aloud a new meaning could be revealed to you at any moment. Don't just pray, sit quiet and listen for his voice in your spirit. We can't enjoy our Lord by only few fleeting moments and on the go constantly. Stop, Read Pray Listen
Daily-Praise the Lord; Abide in Christ, Walk in Love
